BLM, please do NOT cut down the magnificent Cottonwood tree that is the centerpiece of the San Pedro House Site in the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. The current temporary fence protects visitors and the tree and should be made permanent. Protection of resources, antiquities, habitat and character should not be ignored for convenience by the BLM. These trees are home to many birds each year and should be preserved. These Cotton woods provide much needed shade to animals in our hot climate. Cut back the trees if required for safety, but please do not cut them down. The trees are part of the San Pedro heritage.

Let's save this magnificent tree shelters birds, and provides shade to all who enter this park!
The fence will protect the tree and removal would be cost-prohibitive! Save the state's money for important things!

There are so many reasons why this tree shouldn't be cut down. Has anyone bothered to check the age of the tree? I know it's one of the oldest trees in the area.

I made one point and one suggestion: "Using what I understand is the reasoning behind this plan, the BLM should cut down all trees on its land on the off chance that someone will be harmed when they fall. I Googled the phrase 'braces to hold up tree limbs' and then clicked on '“Images.' Behold, hundreds of images appear, many of which might suffice for a suggestion."

Do not cut down the cottornwood tree at San Pedro House. It has been a home this past year for a western screech owl family and I'm sure other species over the years.

If we cut down every large tree, there would be no giant redwoods. Leave this tree alone, find another way please.
