This tree is one of the most important, loved, and cherished landmarks in all of Cochise County. I think BLM sees a just tree while the friends of that tree know it's so much more. We live in a place where natural trees are scarce and to see this massive example so close to home is magical. The BLM just doesn't know.

Please save this beautiful tree from further deterioration. Build a permanent fence around this tree to keep visitors from having access to it. I've been visiting and birding Arizona for dozens of years, and my trip is never complete without birding the San Pedro and visiting this magic of nature at least 3 times each time. Please preserve and protect this tree and ensure that arborists care for it as needed so that it may live for many more years. Please.

It doesn't make sense to cut this tree down at great expense when a perimeter fence can be put in place to protect people from falling branches.

This tree has much sentimental and soul value for my family and many others, is a wildlife habitat, and a key feature at the San Pedro House. Big, old trees are rare in Arizona, and important for our youth to see, and everyone to marvel at. This tree has a name. Perhaps many folks have named him, but a community of families and friends call hm "Steve". Although we will not be able to sit under Steve's magnificent branches any more, we can still sit beside him at the picnic benches, and enjoy lunch, solitude, and his wise company. Keep Steve. Let him die naturally. Make the fencing permanent for public safety.

Nooo!!! My favorite tree! Last time I was there they had it blocked off, so sad I couldn't touch it and sit with it.

We need trees, they give us so much. I see no need for this wonderful tree to be cut down, let this tree live so it can shelter humans from hot days, providing shelter to birds & animals and help with air quality.

Trim the tree minimally and let the tree die and decay naturally. What an ideal learning opportunity about the many and varied life forms that benefit from naturally decaying trees and plants.
