Why do we have to wipe out history to create piece. I understand people wanting to add more culture to the area and world but deleting another generation a whole history of it doesn’t change any of it. Your not creating piece your creating hate and division. We all matter. If you can’t say we all matter then you are always going to have a divided line. The old saying give an inch take a mile. If one group isn’t happy with some kind of change they have to have 100% there way then think real hard what they are really up to. That name has been for many years hurting no one. Now a bird can’t be bird. A fly can’t be a fly. When is it going to be enough! Think about this people. A lot of things offend me but I turn the other cheek. It’s called adult hood. If you don’t like the tv show turn it off the book don’t read it the kid with his pants around hanging down his ass don’t look. Why does everything that bothers us have to be acted apon. like we are in the the movies going for a Grammy award. This is so out of hand and ridiculous isn’t almost shameful to call yourself an American anymore. Our forefathers did not fight and die for this. Kindergarteners work problems out better then this. It’s life it’s messy ugly crazy stupid. It’s also wonderful loving amazing joyful and very very short. No time for nonsense. So think about as you read this. Does any of this crap going on really truly matter in the world when you look at your family in your child grandchild eyes. Hear them laugh see them smile. NOOOO. Because we all MATTER. Leave the name alone and move to more pressing issues. Like jobs in the area. Lowering taxes. Paving the dam roads that I pay I very high tax for.

I’m tired of this “snowflake” culture where everyone is offended by everything. We could go ahead and change the Raider name to something like the Mustangs and guess what, 10 years from now someone will say it is offensive to animal rights. At the end of the day, I’ll never understand why naming a team Raiders in reference to Native Americans is so offensive. It’s honorable! If it wasn’t why do colleges name buildings after influential founders? Why do we name memorials after people? Why are there literally hundreds of streets named after Martin Luther King in the United States? ..... It’s because we view them as great people and want their names to be very prevalent so people will never forget their great legacies. If we really hated them, we’d never speak of them and try to erase every last reminder of their existence. I’m sure not everyone will agree with my post, honestly I do not care. I am not going to change mind and give way to the mob culture. Our country is going through very tough times and people are more divided than ever. Sports could have been one of the few unifiers, but not anymore.

Rutland Red Raiders name should stay. Redskins is derogatory - Raiders is not. And it’s a great tradition & history!

I wore the Raider name proudly across my chest for 4 years. During this time I was able to win two state championships, a New England championship, and placed 2nd at NCA high school nationals. The established Raider name allowed me to go on and cheer at a nationally ranked collegiate level. During this time I earned two 3rd place and two 4th place finishes at NCA college nationals. This year I also had the amazing opportunity to help assistant coach the 6x state champion, lady raiders. I have never been anything but proud to represent the Raider community. In addition, my grandmother, mom, dad, and myself all graduated from RHS as RAIDERS. Keep the name alive and may the Raider legacy live on♥️
