Proud to be affiliated with Rutland Raiders. To me the mascot of the Native American shows strength and courage. The innocence of a school mascot being misconstrued for anything different is ridiculous. I'm very sad the negativity of some impressions about Native Americans outweigh the positive attributes more of us believe in.

The Oakland (Las Vegas) Raiders should be the bellweather for this issue. I think the name isn't offensive (having Native American as part of my heritage). I would like to see how many have actually complained about the name

As an RHS alumnus, the Raider is a warrior, one who is brave and one that our competitors should be intimidated by. That is what a high school mascot should be, and that is what a mascot should represent. There is nothing offensive about bravery.

This changing of names, overheightened sensitivity to basically anything deemed offensive is out of hand. The world has bigger and badder things that take priority. No more!!!!
Thank you
