In a country where obesity is a serious issue this is a bad move

It’s a shame that we as a country are still this far back to consider this as a solution.

We have highest obesity rates and inactivity rates in Europe. No playing fields due to development. We don't support athletes or promote health & fitness. This is another disgrace

It’s disrespectful towards those who make time to pursue a health goal or a target they set themselves to achieve. Whoever took this decision did not consider the evident danger of cars crossing a track where athletes are running. The roads have already become too dangerous to run. Leave athletic tracks traffic free please.

Better you renovate the sports complex instead you turn it into a cat park

This track and “football ground” is used by many people, as a waterpolo player sometimes we do land training near the track and we are mainly a group of 15 players apart from that other many people make use of this facility daily.

I have been coming to this track for 12 years to pursue a healthy lifestyle; there are so many others like me. Instead of using more space for cars, the authorities should target the over abbundance of vehicles.

The track is for running not for parking. Will you carry responsibility for any accidents?

Defiantly should be kept for training safely.

This does not make any sense however you look at it. We need more sport and recreation places. Please don't destroy the very little there is .

Endorsing using a sports ground as a carpark is a terribly bad move, even if just for a week, let alone months. It reflects totally inverted priorities. Way too much space is already dedicated for parking on campus. For example, the ringroad has 2 lanes for parked cars, 1 for moving cars and no pavement at all for pedestrians with these having to squeeze between cars. Students, staff and people living close to UoM need the sports ground and track to remain a safe place for exercise and recreation.
