You'd think that Student Affairs wouldn't be this out of touch with its students, but I guess they are. Unless an alternative equivalent space is/was offered, this is a rather boorish decision by them in my opinion. Was there even an attempt to include the GSA's admins in this decision process?

I am a Rutgers alum and used to work closely with the GSA offices and some of their programs while I was at Rutgers. I was an undergrad and it was wonderful to work in collaboration with them. Please do not take their offices away for other personnel, this is an important space for working. I am against the displacement of the GSA offices for any reason as long as they continue to be actively in use!

Rutgers has a huge grad student population, and the GSA does the crucial and complex job of keeping students in all departments informed about administrative matters that affect them directly. The GSA also facilitates funding for all the GSOs, which create programs that individual departments may not have the resources to create. All this work requires a central space for offices where meetings and other events can take place, and where the huge volumes of GSA paperwork can be tracked and processed.
Please keep the GSA offices where they are; the organization's work is hugely important to a significant Rutgers population.

I worked as Events Coordinator for the GSA years ago. The office space is crucial for the functioning of the GSA which offers vital services to the graduate students. Save the GSA space!

Having worked as the GSA Business Manager for 2 years and also served as interim secretary, I am highly distressed at the thought that this space could be lost. Graduate students are a unique population at Rutgers with special interests and concerns, and the GSA provides an invaluable service to them in an effort to meet their needs. Eliminating this space would be a grave disservice.

I served as a GSA representative during my years as a graduate student at Rutgers University. The GSA offices were key to the successful functioning of the GSA and as a community focal point, along with the Graduate Student Lounge, for the graduate student community at all the Rutgers New Brunswick campuses.
