Please don't destroy one of the most iconic landmarks in cinema history. I LCD in Scotland and hope one day to visit those steps but I would like to see them as they should be. When I heard this news about the steps my heart sunk at the thought.

Like the article makes clear. You cant change an inspiration for thouthands of people! Please dont do that! I was in 2006 in Philadelphia for the Premiere of Rocky Balboa and special for the steps of course. Best Regards Timo from Germany

These steps represent the blue collar underdog that is Philly. It shows how hard work can overcome even the steepest obstacle. People have symbolically run up it after overcoming personal obstacles like cancer, divorce, etc. Tourist money aside, these steps embody the attitude of Philadelphia.

Heartbroken and defiant to these proposals. I've travelled twice to Philly from the UK just to savour the experience of running those steps. The city would lose millions in lost tourist revenue if this defacement is actualised.
