What will happen if the reef is gone?

If the reef is gone Australia and the Great Barrier Reef will lose tourism, so we lose money. We will lose native sea creatures and all the coral will die so creature won't be able to live. With the reef gone we will also lose a world heritage site, which wouldn't be good for Australia. If there was no coral the water wouldn't be protected so big waves old go into the ports and knock over boats. If there is no reef it would just be 2,300kms of nothing so all jobs at the reef go. There will be no festival to celebrate how lucky we are and the beautiful icon the Great Barrier Reef is.

How do we show and educate people about the reef?

We could make something that people could look at like a website or blog. I could also start a petition on a internet device or walk around and ask for people to sign the petition. I could write and make pamphlets to send out to people. As well as making pamphlets, I could make posters to put up everywhere. I could make a video and say what the community could miss out on and put it on YouTube.

Why is the Great Barrier Reef a world heritage site?

The Great Barrier Reef is a world heritage site because it is so beautiful and nothing else in the world is like it. It belongs to everyone who lives in Australia and everyone should be proud of it. Another reason is because it is the biggest marine park in the world and 1 of Australia's biggest attraction.

What activities do we do on the reef that destroy the reef?

The biggest reason is tourism because all the boats go over it and little bits of oil could leak. With all that happening having coal mining businesses possibly dumping on the reef will destroy it. Science can destroy the reef by taking bits of the reef away. Campaigning can cause the reef to be in danger. Photography can wreck the reef if they take bits of coral off the reef.

What can we do right now?

We can make a website for people to look at and We could put a petition on the website. On the website we could write what people can do to help. We could link bigger websites to my website.

If the reef doesn't get dumped on, what will happen?

If the reef stays we can keep a beautiful world heritage site. All the coral will be healthy so sea creatures will stay safe. Because everything would be healthy more and more tourist will roll in to see the reef so we would get a better use of the space. With more tourists more people will go snorkelling and they will tell their friends and they will go snorkelling and so on.

How could people that dive help in the reef?

Divers in the reef could collect rubbish in the reef so if the reef get dumped on it wouldn't collect any rubbish. Divers could also take videos of the reef and show what they could wreck. We should try not to pollute and not take flammable things out to the reef incase of an oil spill.

How could we show awareness to save the reef?

We could make petitions, or blog, or videos, or books for people to read. We could also make posters or newsletters or have a debate to show that we care. We could send letters or emails to the environment government. We could make a fund raiser or sausage sizzle to show our awareness.

Why are they dredging?

They are dredging for the coal mining business. Even though they aren't dredging in the reef the are dumbing the seabed on the reef that is causing the coral to die that causes the sea creatures to die. Once the reef is dead we as Australia lose tourism that would lose money and that we will make the population lower.
