This is a historic building in Theale which should be preserved in its entirety. It would be a great shame for the site to be redeveloped into flats, as has sadly already happened to the Lamb pub in Theale.
This is an historical part of Theale Village and a big part of Theale heritage. Very popular and needs to be restored and put back in for the local community

The historic Red Lion pub with its traditional skittle alley is an asset for the local community and the wider area.
There are examples of pubs in West Berkshire that looked 'uneconomic' but which have been turned round by enterprising landlords e.g. Five Bells, Wickham.
I support flats being built on 'brownfield' sites and it should not be necessary to lose this pub to provide housing.

This development will NOT benefit the community, it will destroy the village of Theale.. We need to keep it in the community for all to use and enjoy. It has a historical value and we should keep it for generations to come. The proposed housing development of 325 homes at Lakeside should offer enough houses and this overdevelopment in Church Street is not needed. The amended application is still flawed and the Council should not approve it.

Theale has lost too much of its heritage already, the Red Lion has been part of this for many many years. Losing it will be detrimental to the village

I don't believe this is in the public interest to approve the development of this historic public house within the village of Theale. The local community has plenty of housing in situ and now approved (325 homes - Lakeside), in opposing this planning application I'm ensuring Theale retains its village character and long standing public house high street legacy.

This was my local friendly welcoming, great meeting place with the only attached hall on a public house left. The other public houses do not suit many of the community. With the new proposed 325 houses Theale needs to KEEP this public house. Keep Theale as it should be 'The Ale'

This is being pushed because "Theale needs more housing""...does it really? There is a 325 home development planned for Lakeside, Theale, so this rather refutes that. Theale is renown for its many and varied public houses, the Red Lion being one of them. This lovely pub was brought from under our noses because of the greed of the developer. He has already brought, and developed one of Theale's pubs...WE DO NOT WANT TO LOSE ANOTHER ONE!!!
