There's no need to demolish this building. It stands strong and proud, even in it's long disused state. I've always wished I could see the inside, and many others feel the same. What a wonderful museum and educational site this could be!
I come from St Johns and this is a part of my family history so please save this building, as a kid my friend's and I would go and sit and imagine what we would do with this building ,wonder why it wasn't in use the in the early seventies.
I would miss seeing this building when returning to Portland from Sauvie Island or points beyond. It's not just the building itself, it's the cool view of it from up high, and the contrast with its surroundings. I would love to see it preserved.
I cannot drive by that building without being moved with it's beauty. Why is it always easier to destroy than to save. We are a disposable society! This building needs to be saved, and can be if the powers at be open their minds to the possibilities that exist!
New buildings do not show the care and craftsmanship as these old buildings do. Every effort should be made to preserve our past whenever we can. Once something like this is demolished you can never get it back... it is gone forever.

I would pay $50 for a guided tour of the inside of this building. I would pay $100 to be admitted to the party in that building celebrating its restoration. And why aren't the corporations that polluted the land financially responsible for cleaning up their mess?!
