Help us save the bees! Canadian governments continue to ignore the signs and detrimental effects of neonicotinoid pesticides killing millions of bees.

The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency has at last proposed to phase out almost all outdoors uses of neonicotinoid pesticides over the next three to five year.

Neonicotinoids, or neonics, represent a major worldwide threat to biodiversity and ecosystems. The special reviews of clothianidin and thiamethoxam found these chemicals contaminating Canadian waterways at levels harmful to aquatic insects. Aquatic insects are an important part of the ecosystem, and provide food for fish, birds and other animals.

According to European Food Safety Authority most uses of neonic pesticides represent a risk to wild bees and honeybees. Europe is moving faster to protect biodiversity. Neonics are already banned in France, as of September 2018, and all outdoor uses of neonics will be banned throughout the EU by the end of the year.

Delaying action for another three to five years, as proposed, would allow neonics to continue to accumulate in the environment and prolong risks to many beneficial species. Right now, across the world billions of bees are dying. This is unjustifiable.
