St. Peter's, many women that are losing their access to volleyball space in the gymnasium, played their high school volleyball for St. Peter's Secondary, come from a long line of women who attended and represented St. Pete's and have children currently enrolled at St. Peter's. Our tax dollars support this school system and we contribute to fundraising efforts, as part of the ongoing and greater community. Being 'benched'(so to speak), is shameful on the part of the school board, and certainly fails to exemplify the values of that St. Peter's secondary school is thought to impart on and cultivate within, their students. Please reconsider. Sincerely, Erin Sullivan

Hi. I believe the this is a very important league to have in Peterborough. I do not think that a for profit league from out of town should be permitted to push the local women's league out. It's kind of ridiculous that this has happened for the last 2 years.

The for-profit organization that was granted the Thursday evening time slot is based in Oshawa. Not only are their property taxes not going to Peterborough schools, they are making a profit from community use of schools in Peterborough.

The same thing is happening with our club, Northumberland breakers in Cobourg! We lost our Thursday night time slot 2 years ago that we had for years and even though we got it back this year by booking in first, the board won't give it to us.

We're experiencing the same issue with our bookings for the Northumberland Breakers Volleyball club in Cobourg. Even though we booked first at St Mary's secondary school for the coming season, we were denied our bookings to accommodate another organisation who later requested our time slot.

Thursday night women's league needs this venue. I have enjoyed playing in this not for profit league for more than 30 years. There are no other women's only opportunities to play volleyball in the area. Please reconsider your decision to allow a for profit group.

A league that's been in the place for 23 years should not be forced to give up its space because of a technical difficulty.

The Ladies Volleyball league provides a unique opportunity for women of all ages and diverse cultures to connect through sport. By "connect" I refer to the development of skills, competition, sharing and supporting each other. This league has such "history" evident by the number of years in existance and popularity and passion displayed by its members over the years. St. Peters has the opportunity to be part of something very special in providing the facilities for women to play, share and grow. It would be such a shame for the catholic board to be responsible for the closure of this league.

I was a member of this league for over 30 years and enjoyed the camaraderie of many wonderful women. It is truly a special league where women of all ages come out to exercise, rejuvenate and relieve stress from what are typically busy lives. I hope that reconsider your policy such that community based, non-profit organizations are given some latitude in bookings for district school spaces. It will be very disappointing to see a wonderful long-time league like this have to end because of policy inflexibility.

Hmmm.. interesting it is saying that Alida is in Guelph but she is actually in Peterborough! Another example of how there are computer glitches sometimes just like when we tried to register for the gym facilities last year and this year !

This is an amazing league that brings women together. As a teenager I played on my Mom's team which was a wonderful bonding experience. As an adult, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting friends, staying fit and having fun. There was a great sense of community!

I have been in this league for 29 years. I believe the method of booking is severely flawed and it has cost us 2 years in a row now. Please reconsider your policy and make not-for -profit groups a priority. You have a chance to make this right now and I sincerely hope you reconsider us for Thursday nights in this upcoming season.

I do believe that if the space is not being used by children's sports/activities, the association that had the spot the year before (the women's league since 1993) should get first dibs on the space.

The business that has been given the Thursday evening time slot is not even based in Peterborough - it is from the Oshawa area. Shouldn't we support locally run leagues first???
