Final supporters
The Peter Gelling Library in the CAHA department has been an integral part of our department for many years. It contains objects that are important to our department in all streams.
We have just been notified this week that the Peter Gelling Library will be replaced as a room in the Central Booking System at the University. This means that all the library books have to be removed by Friday and the shelving will be taken out to be replaced with the plastic tables and chairs in the other teaching rooms in the Arts Building. Any books which are not removed by Friday will be removed and disposed of.
At present the department are rapidly trying to save the books in the library to stop them being destroyed but we need your help to save the library itself!

I really did not think this would gain so much traction when I started typing it out in a panic but here we are and the energy is honestly kind of overwhelming in the best way possible. It feels like people actually care about keeping this space and its history intact which helps so much while we try to figure out what happens to all these books next.

I spent so much time in there during my undergrad. It was the only quiet spot in the whole building.
Are they serious?? Plastic tables over actual history? This university is losing its mind.
KEEP THE LIBRARY. My tuition is going up but the facilities are getting worse. Total joke.
Stop destroying our history just to fit more students in a room. find another place for the chairs!
This is ridiculous. That library has so many unique resources we cant get anywhere else. Please dont throw these books away!
