W.K. Kellogg donated the land to the Cal State system with the idea that Cal Poly Pomona would be an Ag school and that it would continue his line of Arabian horses. Downsizing the pastures would interfere with his vision, as well as limit the exposure students get to managing pastures and livestock. Cal Poly Pomona is a unique site that offers a bit of the country in the middle of suburbia... taking the pastures away is just one step closer to shutting down the Ag program for good and then So Cal will have no Ag schools

If there is ever an area that needs more agriculture education, it is Southern California, and this school is pretty much it. People in this area are clueless of their food source, and reality on the importance of agriculture to our every day life. If anything we need to increase these programs and branch out to our public schools to teach our future generations about the importance of agriculture.
