Can you imagine the beach without powdery white sand? How about an ocean with no healthy coral reefs? Did you know that the parrotfish is critical in maintaining healthy coral reefs and marine ecosystems? Or that parrotfish produce sand?

The Save the Parrotfish, Save Our Islands campaign, an initiative launched by Sandals Resorts International is designed to increase awareness of the decreasing parrotfish population and the many implications of this on our marine environment, food security and the livelihoods of those who depend on the ocean.

The campaign will lobby for improved parrotfish management systems, whether through the introduction of a closed season for parrotfish, adding the parrotfish to the protected species list or through the implementation of stricter sanctions for catching undersized fish.

But we need your help. In order to give the parrotfish a fighting chance, we need to convince the powers that be to take notice and take action. There is power in numbers and we need you to lend your voice to the cause. By signing this petition you demonstrate your understanding of the importance of the parrotfish species and the need for urgent measures to protect them. Your signature also indicates your commitment to, at the very least, decreasing, if not ceasing, your consumption of parrotfish.

Join us as we strive to save the parrotfish and save our islands.

Lets do this and teach our local recreational and commercial fishing communities more sustainable ways to catch and support themselves.

The parrot fish is key to reef survival. Caribbean coral reefs will continue to disappear if we don't restore the population of fish that eat seaweed, as Caribbean reefs are gradually getting smothered by algae. .. Please help save the parrot fish. SOS - save parrot fish, save our islands!

I 100% support any and all bans against the fishing, sale and consumption of Parrot fish in Jamaica until our reefs are sustainably restored.

My favourite fish to eat; to abstain is nothing in comparison to the saving of our beaches. Priceless.

Healthy coral reefs and sandy shorelines are critical to the safety and security of our shores from the onslaught of hurricanes and beach erosion caused by climate change, the catching of parrot fish and the general abuse of our ecosysyem. Save the parrot fish...it is an important start!
