How can parent coaches not be allowed at elementary/middle school level? The majority of local elementary, middle and high schools all have parent coaches. Not sure the logic if this is true? Really disappointing.

I've had 3 kids at QOPA and have had experience with many coaches through the years. Their interaction with Chris Fisher was consistently positive. They always felt he was interested and helpful to them as well as approachable & professional. He communicated clearly with parents and kept us aware of whatever we needed to know. I strongly encourage QOP to not try to fix that which is not broken. The children's best interests should supersede any adult issues as it is the children that matter most and Chris Fisher is a stable, reliable, qualified coach and healthy role model.

Hi Anonymous, I don't see any slanderous comments or hurtful words in any of the previous posts. What were you specifically referring to? Maybe I missed something. By the way, it's whether, not weather.

Has anyone called the school office to verify weather this is a true statement, before commenting or slandering the Academy, where my child enjoys a great education. Please know your hurtful words cannot be taken back!

This decision is disappointing. I am sad for the children who enjoy spending more time with their parent playing a sport that they love. I am also sad for the parents who were looking forward to building more memories with their child. This one decision goes beyond basketball. Think of the other sports and those parent coaches who now may be asked to step down. So very sad.

Not the time to disenfranchise parent coaches at QPA. After school sport programs coached by volunteer parents are what make Catholic schools unique and exceptional for all involved. Let the parents coach on!!

My husband has given countless hours to coach QPA sports teams during the past 12 years, and for him and other parent coaches to be removed via text message without any further explanation is both illogical and disturbing.

I'm perplexed at this decision. I'm assuming there must be a very valid reason for this? I cherished my time coaching my son in track and bball. I hope further explanation is provided.

Parent coaches are very important. Over the years that I played basketball at QPA Coach Fisher and Coach Matt were vital to our success. Parent coaches have become a very important part to a teams future and I feel that because of my parent coaches (Fisher and Matt) we were as succeful as we were.

When I was at qpa my father was he head basketball coach and during this time we were the best team to ever come through the school. That's because we had a great coach staff (my father and Mr. Fischer) I don't understand why you wouldn't allow someone to coach a team just because their kid is on it. I think that if they are a great coach then they should be allow to coach.

Coach Fish was one of the best coaches at QOP.

I had coach Fisher as a coach for several years growing up and leadership skills he left his teams with as well as care he showed for his players is something that needs to stay at queen of peace for as long as he decides.

Being a member of the basketball team with a couple amazing coaches was one of the best experience my daughter has had at QPA. It was one of the few things that made me consider keeping my daughter there for middle school. I am sorry to hear this is the direction the school has gone, and would not be surprised to learn that decisions like this sway more parents away from the school. The volunteer parents worked so hard and gave so much for our girls. Plus the consistency of having the same parents return each year gave them the ability to work with them and watch them grow year over year. I can't imagine the school finding a solution that will make a better program.

We have heard so many great things about these coaches. We have been looking forward to watching our kids being coached by them quite some time and this news is very disappointing. Please re consider.

During the past 12 years, I have had the opportunity to coach our wonderful QPA children, many of them from K-1 thru middle school. It has been very fulfilling to know that I have played a small part in the development of my current and former players, some of whom are now excelling in high school and college athletics. I have never been concerned with wins and losses, or wanting my teams to be the best on the court. Instead, I work to help each individual player be the best that they can be, on and off the court. My experience in overcoming a terminal illness has given me the very real and personal knowledge that all things are possible through the power and grace of God. I let the kids know that they should enjoy each opportunity they have to play, always do their best for themselves, their teammates, and their families, but never play with fear of failure because if they do their best, God will take care of the rest. Often facing athletically superior teams, my teams have won 4 championships and finished 2nd twice in my six seasons coaching middle school teams at QPA. In addition, I am certified to coach US Amateur, USSSA, and AAU basketball, and have coached on state and national championship 8th and 9th grade travel teams. If the QPA athletic committee replaces me with a volunteer coach who is more qualified, I will gladly support our kids from the stands. If that is not the case, I strongly believe that it is in the best interest of our kids for me to remain as their coach.

Chris Fischer, Tim Gleason, Brian Dey and Ron Bendekovic have coached both of my children. I appreciate their time they have volunteered for our children and our school.
