The management of P.A.C.E. made a sudden announcement by end of day on Friday October 15th 2021 to cancel the high school program from the next academic year. The school management indicated this decision has been contemplated for years. However, they have never consulted or informed PACE families regarding the plan. This move is totally unilateral, irresponsible and unethical to the whole P.A.C.E. students and families as follows:

  • The current high school students and families are forced to leave in the middle of high school years with very limited choices since many high schools would not even accept new students. High school education is designed from G9 to G12 for completeness and continuation. PACE’s high school program is also very different from other high schools, making it very difficult to transfer. Such disruptions can be devastating and cause irreversible damage to students’ academic goals.
  • There are middle school and elementary school families who had chosen PACE with the plan to attend PACE high school. They are also forced to find alternatives in limited time

We demand the school to:

  • Continue to provide the current high school program, with quality teaching staff and curriculum, without sacrificing qualities, for at least 3 years to let the existing Grade 9 to 12 students to graduate successfully from the school. This requires the school to hold a valid license to grant OSSD to the high school students.
  • Clearly communicate about the plan to discontinue high school section to the existing students and new registers so that they can make informed decision.
