This farmer’s market is why the community of the Outer Sunset has continued to grow! SI should figure out another way and support local businesses

Please keep the Sunday Market! Love the sense of community, and the opportunity it gives for the vendors to sell their product(s).

This farmers market is the best thing that has happened to our neighborhood. It’s a central family and community hub and a vital income stream to the vendors (many of which are local to the neighborhood or SF). One of the employees of the market lost his decades old Outer Sunset business in the Pandemic, and this has replaced his income. We’ve built relationships with the vendors- Avast bread (he lives just blocks away and supports a family with this income), Semilla (Norma lives and produces her food in SF), Nixta (lives & produces his food in SF), Trish’s Biscotti (makes her biscotti at home in the Sunset), salsa (again made in SF), Venga Empanadas, Midnight Bagel… not to mention the other vendors coming in- Ponce, Rodriguez strawberries… This market allows us to walk from home to buy almost EVERY grocery we need for the full week. If I’m being hones, the Farmers Market is the best part of many weeks for my husband and me. SI is a religious, non tax paying, no benefit to the immediate neighborhood institution, asking to have not just 37th from Q to R, Rivera from 37 to 38, 38 from Q to R, a parking garage, and the Farmers Market blocks 6 days a week, but also now they want the Farmers Market blocks too. That is not fair to us, tax paying citizens. Their students park on block/in front of our home 5 days a week- them giving me a farmers market 1 day a week is a fair trade.

the mercantile has been amazing for our community. now i do not have to travel outside my neighborhood to go to the farmers market and on top of that I have learned of many wonderful businesses in my community i had never been to before.

My wife and I are seniors. Having this market within walking distance allows to obtain fresh produce directly from local farmers.

I hope we can keep the market open. I am a local artist/musician that is lucky to play the market.
