As a 5th avenue point resident I can say with the utmost confidence and extreme concern that allowing Signature Properties to expand their development scope would have no public benefit.
It will only benefit developers standing to make monetary gains off of public lands.
NO MORE PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT ON THE WATERFRONT! PUBLIC WORKS OVER PRIVATE MARINAS!

Folks should remember this entire 90 acre complex was meant to be Wetlands, before ZOHC stole it in backroom deals. Now they are coming for the last bit of mudflats to put up their mega-marina. Just say NO to mega-marinas.

This completely absurd, but the fact that a huge developer wants to keep adding more realestate to their already 65 acre project is also unsurprising. What is outrageous is that the main reason they want to tack on all the additional marina space is to finance the relativity small marina they'd already gotten signed off on. They realized they weren't going to make enough $$ on a smaller marina, so they want more boats, so they can make more money. Their financial mishaps shouldn't be the public's problem. Can't we're just have some free accessible waterfront space for all to enjoy? Does the water really need to be gentrified too?

As a 30 year oakland resident I oppose turning the waterfront into boat slips. Nature over man with mankind benefiting in the end together is ideal.
As a boat owner I see no need for more boat access or services in this area.
As a boat owner this will increase pollution, due to p
Attics fuels and waste entering the water and wildlife. I have yet to see a marina that has a positive effect on shoreline and environment.
As a human I value the shared access of our water fronts and the access to clean water and clear in cluttered views.
Seven generations from now the marina will not exist. It will be further up in altitude and those generations will thank us for perseving some of the wilder environments in a dense urban settting.

Public spaces are one of the few things holding people together right now. Destroying them for private industry will have far-reaching irreversible consequences that nobody wants, not us boat people, not even the capitalist developers.
