Protect the Onondaga Lake Bald Eagles

Move the path! Don't disturb the eagles!

You need to save the eagles habitat...they are so important! There has to b another way!

These birds are one of the most exciting things to happen here in a very long time. PLEASE do not take these majestic creatures from us!!

No trail along the shoreline of Murphy's Island. The birds are more important that a walking trail. Leave them alone.

Thank you for considering our concerns.

We need to preserve this national symbol.

Please provide these majestic birds a place to live and flourish and DO NOT FUND Murphy's Island trail as it now stands.

Please do not disturb the roosting location of the Bald Eagles!

Please do not ruin the bald eagles nesting habits . We fixed the lake back to its beauty now to have our nations birds flying high above it. What a fantastic thing to be noted fir. Think ahead!!

I think it's really neat that we have eagles we can watch so close by. Why disturb them with a walking path right where they are and make them possibly move someplace else.

We are fortunate to have the bald eagles nesting in our area. We need to do what we can to keep them safe!

The dates you state is an FWS "guideline" that indicates approximate dates when eagles are in full breeding/nesting and pre-fledge activities of the eaglets); Nature does not run on fixed schedules; courtship/breeding activity begins much earlier than when the area would be closed off; furthermore, by human nature, people would still break into the area regardless of whether it is locked off or not for the area is never patrolled (as evidenced by no patrolling for illegal duck hunting that occurs without arrests during the year.

It would be impossible to build the trail as planned without removing the trees. This, as well as human activity in the area would disturb the eagles which reside and roost in the area year round. Case in point. Have you ever seen eagles roost in the trees where current trails pass on the lake?

The trail would disturb eagles that currently live on lake year-round and use Murphy's for feeding, courtship, and resting. Closing off the trail in the winter; it accomplishes NOTHING for the resident eagles will be disturbed all year. This does violate Federal Law as stipulated in the Golden and Bald Eagle Protection Act. Further attracting eagles to Onondaga Lake WILL have a positive economic impact through tourism (revenue and Job creation).

Please preserve this site for the eagles, they have so little left to call home!!

It's important to balance human access to outdoor recreation areas with the natural elements that make them what they are. please preserve sufficient shoreline on Murphy's Island to allow the eagles to continue to recover.

I think that Onondaga County should do more extensive research on the roosting site of these bald eagles before they choose to extend the Creekwalk trail in their way.

I am not opposed to a trail on Murphy's Island, but am opposed to a loop that includes the shoreline and any removal of roosting trees.
