Love to keep this beautiful part of our home that built and made history as a remembrance of our late beloved warriors, ancestors, great great great and great parents, parents, that fought the good fight lead us to our freedom. I'm asking FAST our new government to do some little renovation and do some decoration that fits for people that visited or as like a museum it's a great way for generations to uphold, to learn and be proud of.

The preservation of historic buildings is a one-way street. There is no chance to renovate or to save a historic site once it’s gone. And we can never be certain what will be valued in the future. This reality brings to light the importance of locating and saving buildings of historic significance because once a piece of history is destroyed, it is lost forever.

We lived some of the best years of our life in Samoa and raised our 7 children there for 15 years. We may be Palagi, but this courthouse is a part of great memories we have of our life there, such as the morning flag raising with traffic stopped, police marching with the police band every morning. It is an iconic place that should be preserved.

I hope that the community will come together to save the "APIA COURT HOUSE" and to preserve the property's historic value. Demolishing a building of historical significance is no different than destroying a PIECE OF HISTORY. #SaveTheOldApiaCourtHouse

There is a smug arrogance from people in power in Samoa, who say "You'll get used to it" when visitors ask why so many historic buildings are knocked down.
Get used to what?
The corruption? Construction companies profiting from ignorance? The hypocrisy of demanding respect for Samoa custom and tradition for an imported religion but no respect for historic landmarks? The ego-maniacal determination to wipe out all signs of colonialism, while selling Samoa out to post-colonial manipulation from New Zealand, Australia and beyond?
Those who forget their own history, good and bad, forget their own lessons, and are doomed to repeat the same cycles of foreign exploitation and sovereign loss.
