Many people depend on the world's marine life. Fishermen, Salt Farmers, The fish and marine animals who live in the ocean, and even us, who eat seafood. But what would happen if all of this disappeared? No more sushi, no more salt, no more fish, and the people who make money off of the ocean, would no longer have money to support their families. We want to stop the oceans from disappearing.
The mangrove forests are disappearing 4 times faster then the land based forests of the world. Factory boats haul in tens of thousands of fish at a time. Local threats such as overfishing, coastal development, and watershed- and marine-based pollution are responsible for the immediate and direct threat to more than 60% of the world's reefs. Add to that thermal stress from rising ocean temperatures and the number of threatened reefs jumps to 75% says the world resources institute.
Our plan is to stop this from continuing. We want to help the Philippines and other countries oceans from being destroyed. We are going to send this petition to the Philippines government asking them to enforce their laws on fishing and take notice of this issue, and hopefully they will help us put an end to the eco-systems being destroyed. If that is successful, we will send this to other governments as well, and hopefully we can help save all the oceans. Our target is 500 signatures. Please sign this petition and help save the oceans.
My father spent his life teaching me about the delicate balance of the reefs and seeing the devastation firsthand is what drove me to start this. Watching your comments roll in confirms that I am not the only one feeling the weight of this loss. I am currently reaching out to environmental groups in the Philippines to ensure our message reaches the right desks.

Seeing this kind of momentum brings me back to the shores my family relied on for so long. It feels like we are finally turning the corner toward real protection for those marine ecosystems.

Too many factory boats taking everything. Leave some for the rest of us and let the ocean breathe for once.

My kids love the beach and I want them to be able to see the reefs when they grow up. Stop the pollution now.
