The Village of Matunuck, along with the businesses here must be protected against the rising sea level. This beautiful, rural seaside village should be able to take the necessary precautions to protect Homes, Businesses, and Beaches.

they should build a reef or wall / rock pier out about 3 or 400 yards & 3/4 mile long & then rebuild the beach there !

As an Environmental Scientist and Journalist, I covered and followed this issue for a number of years. What the Matunuck shoreline needs is a structure to trap sediment transported by the longshore current. The town's proposal to build a steel reinforced "seawall" is not a shoreline protection structure, and will serve only to accelerate the rate of erosion on the Matunuck coastline. The current plan advocated by the town is not a wise use of taxpayer dollars. I support a holistic solution to protecting the private property and structures therein on the Matunuck shoreline.
