As a Perryville native, the Ocean Mist has been a staple in my life and the lives of those around from--old and young--for as long as I can remember. South Kingstown can be an extremely isolated place as far as cross-cultural experience are concerned and the O-Mist brings life, love and energy into a town that desperately needs it. Please consider the negative cultural impact that destroying the mist would cause for the shortsighted goal of aesthetics and google 'negative externalities.' Thank you for your careful consideration before proceeding in regard to this matter. Sincerely,

I would lose a job that I've had for almost 14 years! This job has aloud me to stay home during the days with my childern! Don't take away my job, my life style and my ocean mist family! The community loves us and people have fond memories of back n the day! Plus many new memories are being made by the younger generations of the older ones! The ocean mist has such an affect on people! Please don't take it away from myself and so many others!

CRMC should reclassify a portion of the shoreline in the area from the current designation of “Coastal Headlands, Bluffs and Cliffs” to “Manmade Shorelines.” Such reclassification will permit property owners along this stretch to propose the installation of hard structures (i.e. armor stone or rip rap seawalls) to protect their parcels from erosive forces. Under the present designation all such structures are prohibited by CRMC regulations.

The Ocean Mist is one of the great music clubs in the US. Losing it would not only do harm to the local community but to the cultural community of the US too.

I am a resident of Narragansett and an employee of tye U.S Coast Guard of 9 years. I have travelled all over the east coast and places like the Mist radely exist, the owner Kevin is willing to do the wall himself, and "Save" tax payers money !! Why would someone deny him this ?? He is not only the owner but also a resident, he lives next door . This state needs more people like Kevin, he fighting for the right thing and is looking out for the local taxpayers !

The new seawall idea rinds me of 38 studios. Nobody wants it, but those who are in power have some kind of interest in it so they bulldoze it through. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN !!!!!

A true community serves all stakeholders in the interest for the common good. There is no need for the town proposal that is clearly only good for some. I think we need to ask ourselves, if this erosion were occurring at Scraborough State beach, what lengths would the state and CRMC go to preserve what is good for all. Here is an establishment that is offering a common good solution that is being offered by a citizen at his expense which in itself refreshing to hear when many would expect erosion protection to be a responsibility of a city or state like it is in areas such as Ocean City MD or Atlantic City NJ. This is a much smaller scale however the gesture to foot the cost speaks volumes of the commitment Kevin has toward the community.

Kevin Finnegan's proposal is a no-brainer win-win for the town, residents, and business owners. In the current economic climate that exists where budgets are constrained and taxes continue to increase, why wouldn't we take this opportunity to partner with a business owner willing to invest in repairing and maintaining an existing seawall that has helped to protect the shoreline for years?
