We can not get rid of the local police as a tax payer and a home owner in leesport they need to stay

These guys are the best. All do a fantastic job.

I am blinded sight by this decision. We had no notice this was going on. Not everyone can attend meetings. Are all the meetings video recorded like this one was?

I’ve lived in Maidencreek Township for almost 18 years. This is a disgrace to our men in blue. My children ride their bikes in our neighborhood, we walk our dogs on these streets, we take pride in our community and our officers serve and protect us!!! Our children get on school buses, and as a previous bus driver, I can tell you first hand that Chief Horner caught a driver running through my stop sign at a bus stop. He didn’t even hesitate and the kids on my bus cheered as he protected them! You can’t put a price on the protection they provide. We cannot disband our police! They have families and we need to protect and stand for them!

As a first responder and a resident with the area that NBRPD serves... I am extremely appalled with the decision to dissolve the Police Department. Not only does this cause great fear with the increase in criminal activity rising but frightens me as a first responder. I will NOT place myself or my crew members in any type of danger. Knowing that the Officers were there to secure an unsafe scene is essential to providing care to those who need it. Extended response times from another department will NOT be beneficial to anyone! I will ALWAYS BACK THE BLUE!!!

This os ridiculous to even think about taking forces away when we actually need MORE!!!!

It would be completely idiotic to take away Northern Berks Police because someone in the township board doesn't like the Chief!

I may not live in the township but I work in Maidencreek and want to voice my opinion. These officers come into my work and they are a great group of guys that care about what happens and respond in a timely manner. It will not be the same if we get state troppers and they will not be able to respond as quick. It's a shame that this was not known to the people that live here. It's a shame that when people did find out, they came to the meeting but their minds were already made up. We need our local police!
