I was born and raised in Austin. It has been a home for live music for generations. A establishment should not build near a venue popular for its performances if it's concerned with volume, plain and simple. It would be a shame if a local venue would have to shut down over a greedy foreign state company's complaints when the whole thong should be common sense. Outrageous.

I come to Austin for its culture and live music, not for corporate bigwigs to push their profit-laden desires onto the community!! Who the heck do they think they are? They can't even furnish any proof of what they are claiming.

As a musician who is contracted monthly to perform at nook, I sing this petition in hopes that the city of Austin, mayor Adler, city council and the entire Austin community will make the effort to stand with the nook, who has been and is a staple in the entertainment district and provides income and employment for hundreds of local musicians and people.
The Westin indirectly profits from the live music and entertainment district. Thousands, maybe more visit Austin annually specifically to visit the entertainment district(6th st)

In order to keep Austin a tourist go-to you have to keep things they come in to town for. I guarantee that the main reason people come to Austin is not for the huge, chain hotel they can stay at anywhere.
