I went to Newton High School. Not once did I think of the "Brave" in a racial manner and anyone who does is just looking for trouble. This idea is absolutely ridiculous.

My daughter gradu acts Ted from Newton high back in 2000. Went on to serve in the air force and serve her country. She has always been proud to be a Newton Brave graduate. It will be a shame to have anything remove from the Highschool that she loved so much.

there is absolutely nothing racist about the name. It's time to take a stand. No need to jump on ridiculous bandwagons

I think it's ridiculous to rename everything, someone people will always have a problem with a name. I would think it would be an honor to have something named after a person or group of people that why they would not be forgotten.

MLB's Atlanta Braves are keeping their name. I was a fan of them years before I became a Newton Brave. Question; are the Hopatcong Chiefs changing their name? I can understand some names around the Country needing to be changed but I don't think this warrants it. If we keep going on this trend then Vernon will have to change their Vikings name because it is offensive to all the people and towns they razed and plundered. Also Pope John should drop Lions because it is offensive to antelope lovers everywhere.

It’s just ridiculous now. The symbol for Newton is a positive symbol for strength and bravery. Everybody’s got something to say now about an Indian for the school mascot

I am very proud of the Brave on my alma mater. It is not racist in any way. The American Indian is part of this area's history; an important and proud part. Only a racist would want it removed.
this is ridiculous, cancel culture needs to stop
Let’s organize!
