Our Napa High Indian shows respect and strength and in no way is demeaning or hurtful.

The Indian symbol belongs to the Napa High School and should stay there.

Our Indian Symbol stands for strength, honesty, boldness, fearlessness, and so much more. As a Napa High student, we respected this symbol. We never walked on him and we wanted to be like him! Please, I hope our new leaders will not destroy our more than 100 year Indian Symbol!!!

I am proud of my napa indian heritage. Its a tragedy that the left people have nothing better to do than go after a high school mascot. Get a life

I was student body president in the class of 1960, as well as captain of the basketball team. I am a native Napan. I have lived in Eugene, Oregon for forty years. I am very sympathetic to the plight of native Americans, but not sympathetic at all to this symbolic attack on symbolism. I think this is an unnecessary minority attack on a majority preference and don't understand how it would move us forward as a society and culture. Where is the demand for this action coming from? Thanks for consideration of my viewpoint.

There is no legitimate reason to remove the Napa Indians logo which actually honors Native American tribes in order to appease a group of extremists.

Keep the Indian. Get rid of those who object to it. They're just hiding racists & control freaks. What's wrong with honoring our Native Americans?

DEAR NAPA HIGH, I am so proud to know that the land I was born on and the land near Napa Creek, where I was raised, was formerly inhabited by Indians. We searched and found lots of obsidian arrowheads and understood that we were now living where they had lived before us. The idea that if I studied hard I would become a successful Redwood Jr. High “Warrior”, a Napa High “Indian” and then a Napa College “Chief” was exciting to me and represented a connection to the land and its early inhabitants. The American Indians came to the Western Hemisphere about 20,000 years ago and made a difference that I am proud of. Oh my goodness, removal of that “Indian” logo would be sad beyond belief especially since we have already lost the others for no reasonable reason. My wife and daughter are descendants of American Indians and are very proud know their names and history from 6 different great—grandmothers. Their mitochondrial DNA is a haplotype (D1) that originated here in the western hemisphere. We are all Native Americans if we were born here in North/South America. The "American Indian" is a highly respected historic name that does not let us forget who was here before us nor the bad treatment they received. The main argument in Cleveland is that the logo is a cartoon characterism of a mythical Wahoo. Cleveland's MLB has no connection to the Indians. Here in Napa it is part of our culture which we respect. It's no joke here, unlike Cleveland.

My mother, class of 1939, didn't approve of taking away our Indian mascot nor do I.

I always thought that it was a symbol of respect, to the original peoples. I continue to believe that this is the case. May the Lord continue to bless us all.
