This music hall is where my dance family and I danced the night away laughing. We met friends here and lost ourselves for a while in the music. Problems didn't exist as long as we were swing dancing. Please please please save this beautiful and magical place.

The town hall theater is from 1871 and was carved up in 1934 - effectively destroying the lower level for a court and offices as well as taking down the bell tower. Many people today ask " what we're they thinking". Currently it is the oldest meeting hall in NY and to suggest that it isn't because it was renamed in 1993 is a silly attempt to pass off the abomination of the city destroying the reset of the historic theater.
It is underused by design, as often the city even discouraged rentals. There is no AC because it is a historic building, but I will be dollars to donuts the new offices will have AC.
The cost to tourism and commerce: Dance Flurry members come in part because of its floor - (-and if even 1% no longer come, that will be losses of over $10,000 in commerce brought into this city) Monthly arts events also bring in people to the downtown. This is will a cease to several hundreds of thousands of dollars over a year of two. It would be nice to remember that not all money that comes in to this town is from the track.

How could you possibly get rid of such a unique venue and land mark room? Music is slowly being pushed out of our culture and it's a shame. Please
Keep this alive and well!

I have been using this space for dance since I moved to upstate NY; it is a safe and healthy place to socialize. One does not have to worry about safety, or being solicited for things that may get you in trouble (e.g. drugs) that would be standard at other social opportunities for people in their teens/20s.
It would be a shame to see this historic hall go. The slogan "Health, History, Horses" may as well be renamed "Health, Historically-convenient, Horses" when this small group is able to determine what is historically significant for a theater that has been thoroughly documented in local resources. Ironically, the sources they use to claim that the site is not "history" exist in local archives, and were retrieved by consulting A LOCAL HISTORIAN.
I would love to hear what these commissioners' constituencies have to say about their proposal to replace fine arts opportunities with office spaces. Whats next -- replacing the artwork on Broadway with moving advertisements because this office also decides it is not "significant"?

I have witnessed countless individuals break free from their shell in this music hall. They are different people now. More confident, cultured, and have found passion in friends, music, and dance. This phenomenon has taken place for years and needs to stay in place for years to come with the youth epidemic sweeping the globe. Now kids fill a room but all are silent because they stare at and talk on a screen. Yards and playgrounds empty but video game controllers and computers are busy clicking away indoors on a warm sunny day. But this music hall is different. It supports a community of youth that are strongly knit together and constantly expanding. Kids physically exercising, having fun, and getting together outside to be free and have fun that are awoken inside these four walls. Supporting this music halls supports the arts of performance, music, and dance to stay alive in this community. Something Saratoga would not be the same Saratoga without. I myself would sometimes drive over an hour just to be with these remarkable people and it is all cultivated in the music hall. Do not kill this center for the arts. Do not kill this place of safety for youth to open up. Do not kill the beautiful memories that would be made in the future in this magical place. Support tomorrow's leaders and support their growth. Do not take this away from those who need it, and they do NEED it. I support the Saratoga Music Hall. If you support youth and tomorrow, then you should sign this petition and write letters. We are a community, let's fight to keep our community cultured and alive.

To quote Jake Peralta, stuff can be two things. This space has been an arts institution in Saratoga for decades, and the arts is the lifeblood of Saratoga. If you need offices, please consider an alternative to gutting the most iconic landmark to anyone who has ever lived in Saratoga.

Taking this wonderful space and turning it into something as mundane as office space is a travesty. Saratoga Springs is supposed to celebrate and be supportive of the arts by making them accessible to everyone. The proposed conversion of the Music Hall does the exact opposite.

Thank you for this petition!
The upstairs of city hall has been an arts space since 1871, although the current space was renovated multiple times, the dance floor have been there since 1934.
Think of all the feet that have danced on that floor.

There is a lot of history behind the music hall. It is not a creature of the 90's that was implied in a recent email from city employee...
