Help Save the Museum of the American GI for future Generations. Is a Museum Dedicated to Preserving History, Honoring Veterans and Educating Future Generations of more value than a road? If your answer is yes. please sign this petition.
The current BCS MPO 2050 Thoroughfare Plan has a proposed road crossing the museum's WWII battle fields, Living History Trails and WWI Trench System on which construction will begin this summer. If the 2050 Thoroughfare Plan is approved on June 26, 2017 by the MPO Policy Board, your children will probably not be able to see historical reenactments like the one presented in the video in the link below. The proposed road goes right through the battlefield seen on the video. Please help us save the museum for the future!

We understand the need to plan for future growth of the community. We simply ask the MPO Policy Board to consider the multiple ways the museum positively impacts the community from education, culture to tourism along with the “public good” that the museum accomplishes. College Station is growing south towards the museum. We can not wait until the area around the museum is built up to ask Brazos County and the city of College Station to not build a road that has been on a planning map for years. The time to act is now!
We are one of the few museums in the south that can hold living history education events on museum property. Most other organization hold events on public land owned by the city, state or federal government! The museum is more than just a building to display tanks, military vehicles and artifacts. Our vehicles are not simply part of static displays; rather they are part of our mission to educate the public by displaying the vehicles in action which requires land! Each year the museum is growing larger, reaching more people. Special events and living history displays are added annually. You can help save the museum by signing this petition to the BCS MPO Policy Board members respectfully requesting that they reject the 2050 MPO Thoroughfare Plan until the road crossing the museum property at 19124 Highway 6 South is removed or relocated off of museum property.

This museum is a true Texas treasure, I have been participating here in reenactments for over ten years. The historical and educational value of The American Museum of the GI is truly priceless.
This museum is one of the best I've visited. The vehicles are awesome and actually run, and perform during the living history weekend. Running a road through the property will take away from the museum's ability to showcase it's vehicles during history weekends
I know beyond any doubt that the proposed plan is not the only route the road can take. Any engineer worth his salt will agree. It is not necessary to disrupt or destroy the mission of historical education the museum fulfills, which is such a significant part of the character of the local community. Find another alternative.
Don't disrespect our veterans. This museum is the prime venue in Brazos County for educating the public, particularly our younger generations, about the sacrifices our servicemen and women have made in the defense of our country. Remove the proposed road from the map.
Being a historian myself and a living history volunteer, I truly believe that this move would be disastrous to the museum. There are other ways to build the proper roads without hampering the museum's goals.
this music is keeping the memory of the fallen. it shows every generation young an old what happened, what the GREATEST generation had to use to fight a WORLD WAR against of the deadliest threats. taking that away for a highway, is stripping away the history an legacy of who died to protect us an our ways

As a museum volunteer, I can attest having a road go through the land would be an enormous hindrance to our living history displays. We do what we do to honor all veterans of all wars and eras, both past, current, and future. Please consider re-routing the road so it will not affect the Museum of the American GI!
