As a college administrator, I cannot believe the State allowed needy Illinois students to have a 2015-16 MAP Grant included on a student aid award and now may back out of the commitment made to these students and families. An awarded MAP Grant in the mind of an enrolled college student is a promise to pay. It's a promise the State should keep by funding MAP Grants now.

Get the budget settled. This is outrageous! Put funds into the MAP grant, education should be first and foremost! Shame on all of you!

It is crucial to protect private higher education nationwide and especially in Illinois. Without it, there will be ceiling brain drain. And, ironically, it is ALSO more cost effective; for BOTH the state AND the student when capital costs and graduation rates are taken into account.

The MAP Grant is necessary to support low income qualified students through their education. I'm a college professor and I have never seen it wasted. It always is a benefit that keeps on giving long past the time the student is in college.

It's hard enough for students to pay for college with the MAP, taking t away will be detrimental.
