We, the undersigned, urge the East Hampton Town Council to acquire the historic Middle Haddam Schoolhouse at 12 Schoolhouse Lane and rehabilitate it to serve the community, as it did so well for 50 years!
(The Middle Haddam Schoolhouse, which served as a public elementary school for 50 years, is threatened with demolition. The brick neo-classical building (c.1930) has excellent potential for rehabilitation and adaptive re-use - and is eligible for significant funding, since it is listed on the State Register of Historic Places. Please help us to preserve this important part of East Hampton’s history by signing our petition.

As a former student and a Town Council member I will do all I can to make sure this beautiful building does not get destroyed! Please sign and SHOW Up at Town Council meetings. Tell them why we need to save!
My heart breaks at the thought of this building being destroyed. It is a part of our history and I was one of the many who attended this school. I have such fond memories and Schoolhouse Lane wouldn't BE Schoolhouse Lane without it.
I am a Middltown Senior Citizen who loves to visit the new senior center to attend its many programs. As I sign this petition I think that the Middle Haddam School would bea great fit as an East Hampton Senior Center
I know how hard it is, especially with the current state of CT's budget, to think of spending money on an old building. Maybe once it's fixed up, it can be used to expand on current Parks & Rec programs or a place for Senior programs?
Do not demolish this historic building. The MH Schoolhouse is one of the few parts of the neighborhood that make it historic. It would be a tragedy for the historic district and the entire town of EH if it is taken down.
Best school EVER!

I went to school in this building in the 1970s. As a builder now, I know the old practices of construction were far better than most to day. That building has full masonry walls not like the brick veneer buildings today. the bones of that building could last forever.
