Remove the lock. It serves no purpose and it's a danger to our precious manatee.

The Lock is a dangerous boating hazard for boaters and wildlife. With the lock open since the Hurricane, there have been no impacts on our canals. Water had always moved freely through the mangroves and tributaries which has resulted in the same tide patterns as before. It’s ridiculous that we are being harassed by a community that uses septic and well water that freely flows into our waterways.

Please remove the Chiquita lock, as we've enjoyed seeing Manatee and occasional dolphin in our canals. They are safe in the slow moving canal waters. Eliminating long lock wait lines for boaters are also good for the environment.... Thank you!

This lock needs to be removed. Very dangerous even before the hurricane but now ridiculous after the fact. Manatees were being squished by this lock that I happen to see myself when it was in operation.

This lock is extremely dangerous and the condition it's in after the hurricane. I would also like to add it was in pretty bad condition even before the hurricane. There is no need in my opinion for this lock it's dangerous and I've seen in the two years that I live here to manatees get killed from it. One being a baby absolutely ruined my day out boating

Any reasonable person that looks at all the facts would sign this petition. The removal of the lock is long overdue. It is sad to think that a human fatality will have to happen before common sense prevails.
