It’s a travesty shouldn’t be allowed to proceed. Short sighted on the county m.

These trees provide the main shade for the park- people park under them during their lunch breaks- they cool off the town, they provide habitat for all kinds of animals. With over development on the island, trees like these in small towns are super important for people and the environment. Please don’t cut them down

I walk this park and admire these trees every single day. They are magnificent, rare, a nature hardwood threatening nothing. They shade me and many others. That are majestic. I feel so connected to them. Why would anyone in their right mind even consider removing a single one of these forty something year old trees. They make Honoka’a Park a loved and desirable place to gather. The smart thing would be to leave the trees and just add additional parking if needed. Leave our historical trees for future generations to enjoy as we all have for decades. Surely there are greater projects that require your time and financial obligations. Mahalo nui loa.

I have had a strong connection to the trees in the park since I was a small boy. skateboarding and playing at the park we have always respected and rested in the shade of these trees. I am now 44 and two the same thing. The only difference is now my kids do it with me.. leave the trees alone!

These trees are important to our ecosystem. These trees bring so much shade when it is hot in this summer they’re part of the park. We do not want them cut.

I am a 1992 graduate of Honoka’a High and a lifelong resident of Hawai’i Island. Those trees are a significant part of the park and town. Surely we can find a solution. Mahalo

I cannot imagine the park without the canopy of trees keeping us shaded and cool.

These trees are over 48 years old, create shade, are habitat for bats and other wildlife and add beauty to our park
