The repercussions for the community would be severe if these trees are cut down with little thought or planning given to the impact on our residents. Reasonable compromise solutions exist and should be considered. I'm opposed to cutting down the trees without community involvement and serious consideration of alternatives - such as removing in a staged manner, with replanting of appropriate trees made a part of the overall project. Pause this project until arborist assessments can be done and the community can have its say.

These trees mean so much to the community. They are a very rare tree and they provide eco systems for birds.

Please stop cutting down our “kupuna” trees. Although introduced, they should be cherished.

Qualified Arborist here, I would suggest that these trees need to be properly pruned every three years.

I spent much of my life in Honokaa and Paauilo and it countless hours under these trees. The idea that they would no longer be there is unthinkable and would change the character of the park for decades.

Coming from someone who spent most of my childhood here at this park, there is no sense AT ALL in getting rid of these trees

These trees have been there since I was a little girl. I haven’t seen them cause any harm to vehicles that park under them, or people who like to sit in their shade. Cutting the trees would truly be a disappointment

Why would anyone think this is the right thing to do. Trees reduce the heat index significantly.

These trees provide shade for people during the heat of the day and I personally use them when I'm waiting for the bus

We love those trees. The parkinglot can be repaired without cutting them down.
