These trees are so important for shade. They provide much needed relief from the heat on hot days. Please preserve them.

My students need clean spaces with trees. Please do not take trees from my students and their families.

There are plenty other things at Honokaa Park that need addressed, well before even the thought of tree removal should be considered. The bleachers at the track that have been roped off and dangerous, as well as an eye-sore, for years now; the bathrooms in disrepair, the pavilion falling apart; the gym floor is wet anytime it rains hard due to poor design and no overhang blocking rain from blowing straight into the gym. Indoor sports should be playable when it is raining. Facilities need to be addressed and made safe for the community and our keiki. When that has happened, that is the time we can start addressing the parking lot. Every space is still available, bumps and all. Forget about the parking lot and address the needs of the PARK!

As one born and raised in Honokaʻa, it seems we often get the short end of the stick. Perhaps well-intentioned bureaucrats try to do good, but fail, because Community are never asked to participate in decision-making. Thoughtful planning is critical. Do not send 50 years of history to the sawmill or chipper. Remediate pavement, and demonstrate OUR tax money at work in OUR park. If anything Plant More Trees!!!

Keep the shade! Figure out a solution for the parking lot that won't heatstroke the next generation!

This is absolutely ridiculous to go through with. The shade is needed. Cutting them down to open up spots that are used less than 10x a year is insane.

Lived in Honoka'a all my life. The park without the trees to provide shade on hot sunny days is terrible. The upper baseball field has that problem already.
