How many dollars are spent in local businesses because of this event? seems ludicrous. perhaps the chamber of Commerce would like a say in this?

This is a great source to encourage the car hobbyist trend. Occupies multiple individuals time and money for the community. Teaches teenage kids to establish working skills, as well as pride in accomplishing something of value. Too many opportunities are being eliminated from people, whether it be a Veteran, high School child, a retiree, this can be seen as a learning opportunity as well as therapy for those in need.

Where is the issue? The swap meet is the yearly fund raiser for the Route 66 Rodders (spring meet) and fund generator for the NM Council of Car Clubs (fall meet). The auto parts sellers are grateful to have use of this venue, the shoppers come from around the county to buy. Both these groups generate money for the local economy. The hosting car groups in turn donate money (rent) for use of the grounds/fields to the Village government. Our commitment to Los Lunas has been to return Morris Field free of trash and debris, for continued use as the Sports Complex. We have kept our word, please allow us to continue to use your grounds.

What are some comments from established businesses and new businesses since the meet has been there? Have they seen growth? What about getting the high school involved or donating a car to their automotive shop?

This swap meet attracts people to the Los Lunas area who would not normally stop here for any reason. This helps both the business community and brings in revenue to the city would not normally see. I encourage the community to rethink their plan which would eliminate both of these sources of income.

The Swap Meet brings a huge number of people to the area for the three days. This puts a lot of money into the local economy and provides very positive publicity to the village. Over the years, many people have remarked about the great venue and friendly town.
If there are issues, let's work them out !!!
Thank you for the positive consideration.

The spring and fall swap meet needs to stay in Los Lunas at Morris Field . It's a place to buy and sell auto parts and memorabilia, meet old friends and make new ones. I personally sell at the fall event and buy at the spring one. This would be a great loss to Los Lunas to miss these two events.

I urge that the New Mexico Car Council Swap Meet be allowed to continue at Morris Field Sports Complex. It is a Swap Meet that brings visitors from not only New Mexico and surrounding states but from all over the world. Respectfully suggest that the Los Lunas community incorporate it into their business model when they seek business to come to Los Lunas. Hersey Pa has done it and the Hersey meet is known around the world.

The swap meet benefits Los Lunas in attracting people to the area. It would be a shame to loose the event.
