It's a huge benefit to the community that our kids can use this pool. Their experience translates into very positive associations for the school and support of its activities. Please keep the pool!

My daughter has been involved in Lab theater for more than 5 years and she suggests you consider expanding Kelly Theater into the long hallway, Ms Wasaff's classroom and the current nurse office. Also she feels Kelly Theater is one of the most iconic Lab places which still reflects Sally Field original spirit so it should be retained and improved/expanded.

I realize Lab is not very concerned with the image they project to the community, being a good neighbor, or things of that sort. But the fact of the matter is, if you get rid of the pool, the only real contribution which you make to Palisades will be Traffic and daily inconvenience to those of us living on Reservoir Rd. You recently inconvenienced us for quite a long time with your expansion. Did your cutting edge planners forget to include the theatre?

Please keep the pool open! My daughter's school GDS uses it for practice and meets -- there's nowhere else! And her swim team MVP Dolphins needs it in the summer.

My grandson is autistic and though I'm unaware whether this pool is open to others outside the school a pool is essential for children with special needs.

There must be a way to satisfy both the goal of providing students with theater experience and the community with access to this highly prized swimming facility.

The pool is a tremendous resource for the students and Staff at the LAB school. Low use by students could likely be solved by creative scheduling. Swimming is a critical, lifelong fitness activity that is fun and can even be lifesaving. Childhood drownings are a serious risk nationwide particularly for those children who haven't had instruction https://www.cdc.gov/safechild/drowning/ :"... drownings are a leading cause of injury death for young children ages 1 to 14, and three children die every day as a result of drowning. In fact, drowning kills more children 1-4 than anything else except birth defects." Furthermore, childhood obesity is now considered a National Security risk as documented in this report sponsored by an organization of retired generals and admirals (http://cdn.missionreadiness.org/MR_Too_Fat_to_Fight-1.pdf). Community use of the pool is a highly valued community outreach program. We hope that parent, alum, and community input will be sought before final plans are made to close the pool. Thank you.

Most newer residents in the community are not aware of the school's commitment to provide access for the local neighborhood. Availability hours and days have declined, and the conflicts with other uses have prevented ease of community access. This is another example of organizations reniging on community amenities originally promised to secure support for expansion goals.
