I am honestly stunned to share that the university has reversed their decision and the teams are being reinstated. This outcome belongs entirely to all of you who stood firm when things looked bleak. I will keep a close watch to ensure the transition happens as promised but for now …

Without warning, LaSalle University recently notified over 130 student-athletes that they would no longer be offering their sport as part of the Division 1 program. This news devastated the student-athletes, their families, the alumni and their coaches. The explanation for the decision was to be able to offer a “Division 1 Experience” to those athletic programs remaining. By making this decision, they failed to understand the true meaning of sports and why these athletes participate. It is not about “material” things but for the LOVE of the sport to which they participate.

On behalf of all those who have been impacted, we ask you to join us in signing this petition. We need to have our voices heard and let the Board of Trustees, the President of La Salle and the Athletic Director know that we will not quit until these teams have been reinstated.

By signing your name below, you pledge the following:

We the student-athletes, their family/friends and the alumni of La Salle pledge that we WILL NOT donate any monies to LaSalle now or in the future unless these teams are reinstated.

If they’re Div. 1. It should be in the entire sports program. Not individually picked sports. ALL athletes deserve the right to participate in their sport.

Waterpolo gave my boys a second home, a second family, and the best friends they could ever dream of. Don’t take that away from these young men.

Tommaso had chosen La Salle for the opportunities that it offered him to play waterpolo in D1. For my personal opinion this decision had to be taken before he starts his academic story with La Salle giving him the opportunity to pursue his dream with another college.

All sports are important for college student athletes. This is not a football thing, it is a baseball, field hockey, softball, etc thing. No pro athletes coming out of this, just well rounded students for our future workforce.

I have a son in high school waterpolo and was very excited when his team mate chose to attend your school on a partial scholarship thanks to waterpolo. What a disappointment to hear you are considering ending that program. I guess we can explore other schools with that program and fellow team mates

John Tanner Powell signed a letter of intent to play his heart out for Lasalle. He had other options but now has none. How could Lasalle do this? admitted into both your honors programs. You are not only getting an amazing goalie but one of the top 10% of students in the country!
