Only spotted the proposal accidentally. I live about half km away and was not consulted in any way. I object to loss of amenity, loss of jobs and loss of much-loved building. I have no confidence that if the cinema is demolished it will be replaced. Why destroy a community asset and add to the homogenisation if our high street? Clearly residents do not want this destruction.

My understanding is that the odeon is under threat of redevelopment as luxury apartments. The site is surrounded (including directly opposite at the commonwealth institute and nearby at 375 Kensington High Street) by such commercial developments and Kensington does not need more expensive housing. What it does need is community and the odeon has always contributed towards that. I have lived in Kensington and Brook Green for over 40 years and have used the cinema countless times and firmly believe that the odeon (and the great new addition of the small coffee shop beside it) should remain as a place that brings locals and others together.
