The historic Kensington Odeon is under threat from developers, who wish to shrink the cinema to a few underground screens beneath a car park for luxury flats. Actors such as John Hurt and Benjamin Cumberbatch have already lent their support to the campaign. The cinema was built in 1926 and has been enjoyed by millions of Londoners over the years – sign the petition to keep it from disappearing like so many others!

Preserve the Kensington Odeon cinema as over ground cinema rather than basement picture room. Stop destroying wonderful buildings! Do not to succumb to greedy developers!

Why do you want to destroy this beautiful Art Deco cinema & replace it with some lumps of concrete & glass? This is one of the most important buildings on Kensington High Street. Stop destroying our heritage!!

This is a simply gorgeous cinema with a wide range of screen sizes. the largest really have a sense of grandeur with the gilt decoration and red plush curtains to loose this to luxury flats would be a crime. plus it is the home to many memories of many former teenagers i grew up with it.

Was just thinking recently wow what a great building, love how they still have the higgildy piggedly letters displaying the film titles. They won't be happy until every building with a soul has been bulldozed to dust.

Please vote to keep the Kensington Odeon open as it is an important community space which will be lost to local residents as the developers want to restrict the iconic entrance for the sole use of the luxury flats residents.

The immediate area already has a number of new developments under construction. Without having even been occupied/constructed the traffic around Earls Court road/Pembroke Road and Warwick Road is already horrendous and this can only make matters worse.

This is a handsome and characterful building that makes an important contribution to Kensington, punctuating a change in the character of the High Street at this point .
