Attention Residents of Iron County:
Due to the high amount of calls I am receiving from people concerned about the Iron County ambulance service going private, we the mayors of Iron County have decided to circulate a petition and get signatures from those who are against the privatization of ambulance service. If you would like to see the ambulance service stay with the County, please sign this petition. I will be submitting it to the commissioners on January 6th..

I just refreshed the page and saw we hit 500 signatures which is honestly more than I imagined when I started this whole thing on my kitchen table. It really means the world to see everyone showing up because these services are the heartbeat of our towns and I just keep thinking about how we cannot let this slip away.

I don't know how this makes sense if it will cause longer response times? It seems that more lives would be at risk if this took place. How is that better? It needs to stay with the county!
Personally, I would much prefer to pay a little more in taxes or have our officials make cuts inother ares than privitize our ambulance service. Perhaps they could start by turning down that salary increase they are giving themselves!
There are many changes that can and should be made to make the ambulance service stick to a budget. I work in healthcare, and have seen many opportunities to save money without privatizing the service. Put someone in charge that is not afraid of making tough choices and sticking to their guns.
Iron County had to assume the operation of the Ambulance service years ago after 2 other companies went out of business they could not make enough to cover their costs. The Ambulance Department should not be run as an Enterprise Fund it will need funding from the general fund to operate, The county can cut some other budgets to pay the difference.
We need and what to keep the ambulance out here in New Harmony the Iron county has been good to leave it here since New Harmony has qualified EMT'S out here. If we had to wait on one from Cedar City Hurricane or Leeds it would be 20 plus minutes on a good day if it's storming add another 20 minutes. Please keep the service as is.

I have a daughter with life-threatening food allergies. Even five minutes of waiting can mean life or death for her. Please don't cut ambulances in the county.
