Museum in Danger – Save the Imperial Palace Museum!
The LWL (Landschaftsverband Westfalen Lippe) has recently published plans to close the Imperial Palace Museum (Museum in der Kaiserpfalz) in Paderborn. The close-down of the museum shall administer to consolidate the financial situation of the LWL in economic crisis. Keeping the most important collection of archaeological finds in Westphalia the Imperial Palace Museum looks back on more than 30 years of successful work. Artefacts discovered during the excavations of the palace bear witness to Charlemagne’s magnificent court, constructed in the triumphal wake of his military success in newly conquered Saxony. In 1999 more than 300,000 people have visited the exhibition „Kunst und Kultur der Karolingerzeit“, one of the most successful exhibitions of early medieval history. In 2006 the exhibition „Canossa. Erschütterung der Welt” attracted 180,000 visitors. The work of its dedicated team should be continued.
Please help us avoiding the closing of the museum with your signature!
I have finalized the formal request for a meeting with the LWL leadership to discuss the financial justifications for this closure. My primary focus is drafting a detailed briefing on the museum historical value to present during that session. Expect an update on the outcome of that outreach once I receive a definitive response.

The scale of recent support has captured the attention of local media outlets. I am currently coordinating interviews with journalists to ensure the historical significance of the collection is clearly represented in upcoming coverage.

Cant believe this is even being discussed. History belongs to everyone not just the budget sheet.

I went there on a field trip as a kid and still remember it. Keep it open for the next generation!

The Kaiserpfalz is the heart of our city. LWL should look for money somewhere else.

This is absurd. Paderborn needs this history. Don't close it down just to save a few euros.

Ridiculous to cut funding for such an important place. Culture is not optional.
