IB offers the BEST learning/thinking/speaking/creating opportunities and fosters truly important life/career skills. The program and curricula are simply outstanding. This is an invaluable signature program for the district and should be kept.

Went to Shawnee Mission Northwest, then went to an out-of-state college and learned that Kansas education is (rightly) considered a joke. IB was just about the only worthwhile thing I did in high school. SMSD, don't make a mistake you'll regret.

As a current IB senior, the IB program was an integral part of educational journey. With the help of IB, I was able to pursue so many different opportunities that helped shape me into the person I am today. I hope all students actively pursuing the IB program are able to reap its positive benefits.

As someone who attends two different schools in the district for a signature program, I strongly believe that these kids need the programs to learn about themselves and how to succeed. Taking any program away from the schools will be a huge blow that, not only the district, but the student body just cant withstand.

As a junior in the IB Diploma Program I strongly support this program because it prepares us for the future of college. It has a strong curriculum that cannot be replicated in any other programs like AP and the Inter Disciplinary Program. Statistically, it has been shown that test scores are higher because of the IB program. Without IB test scores around the district will drop. The IB program is one of the strong suits of SMSD and if they cut it then many people will leave the district for other districts that offer IB which is another problem in its own. If they do end up cutting it they will let sophomores finish it but the freshman have been structuring their classes with the intent of taking IB. If they do get rid of IB its not like they can eventually bring it back because IB has a very extensive process to start, and to train teachers etc. I think therefore IB but how can you think without IB.

As a student who attends Shawnee Mission Northwest, I can say that this decision is crucial to the freshmen. I have changed certain aspects of my schedule just to accommodate taking IB classes my junior and senior year.

Although not an alum of this school district, I am a graduate from an IB program and understand the distinct need for a program of this nature to exist. Don't give up on it yet.

I do believe this helps prepare individuals for the hardships and work load of college as well as the understanding that it will not be easy. It would not be a good budget cut at all.

Please keep IB. It is the perfect place for "outside of the box" thinkers to be stretched and challenged.

If education is important to KS, then you want to make sure the brightest students are allowed to reach and stretch for their potential. Many east coast schools looks for students that have done IB programs. By taking this away, you are no longer providing the best education for these students. Students are not all the same and we want to produce the brightest students we can. This is a must! Or, families will no longer see Ks as a good place to raise a family.

This program is truly a college-prep program. In order for SMSD students to compete with students from the East/West coast for colleges, I believe the IB program is a must.
