Leave the Hokie Pokie alone! No more “Stick It In.” No more “Hokie Pokie.” What’s next?

Extremely disappointed to bring my children to the UNC game and not be able to do the Hokey Pokey with them! If you want to fill the stands again, bring back the tried and true traditions like the Hokey Pokey!

I’m extremely disappointed by the most unique of collegiate traditions being thrown away! Replacing the Hokie pokey with cell phone flashlights in broad daylight while playing Shout! is the most disappointing of all changes since my days in Blacksburg (including the closure of Mike’s Famous burgers!). . As a former marching Virginian and student of our Hokie traditions, I beg you to bring back the Hokie pokey! That’s what it is all about!

There is no reason this 3rd quarter tradition should be ended. Someone needs to explain this decision.

The Hokie Pokie not only brings us together with our community and fans, but with the opposing team's band and fans as well! Sharing our performance with the opposing team's sousaphones every third quarter, as well as inviting everyone to dance no matter which team they cheer for, is such a unique, special, and inclusive tradition that truly embodies everything the Virginia Tech community is about. Nothing can or should replace it.

The Hokie Pokie is a unique and irreplaceable tradition. It always warmed my heart to see the VTubas and our opponents' tuba section goofing off l and putting aside their differences to play and dance together. A mere reprise of the "Let's Go" "Hokies" chant cannot recreate the special spirit that was created by the 3rd quarter Hokie Pokie.
