The demolition plans for the Dunlap mansion have been officially scrapped. I am exhausted by this fight but relieved that this piece of history is finally safe. Keep an eye on the property because we need to ensure the preservation work actually begins.

The William B. Dunlap Mansion is a historic house in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania, United States. Erected in 1840 on a bluff over theBeaver River in the northern part of the borough, it has been ranked as the grandest and best-preserved 19th-century house in Bridgewater.
Dunlap's mansion is a three-story brick structure built on a strong stone foundation. On August 29, 1980, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its architecture and for its association with William B. Dunlap. It is also a contributing property to a historic district, the Bridgewater Historic District, which was listed on the National Register in 1996.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but seeing this much support gives me the grit to keep going. We are proving that this history is worth saving despite the obstacles in our path.

As part of the African American community and also a Bridgewater native, I think it would be a terrible thing to lose such an historice building.
Last summer I saw this house for the first time. I fell in love with it! If I had the money, I would buy it in an instsnt. I took pictures of it. I could see the potential in this house. A Bed & Breakfast, a restaurant, etc. A must-see for anyone passing through this area. Please save this historic home!
Letting this be demolished compromises the main idea behind getting a property added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a disincentive for future preservations. In trade for having to get approval for any future changes/renovations, you are supposed to be guaranteed that the property will live on in current form long after you are gone. Disgusting.
Once a treasure is lost, It's forever gone. This house was owned by a freed slave who traveled North with her owners. this should NOT be TORN down
Born and raised in historical Beaver, currently living in Nashville. Replacing this landmark with condos would be a travesty.
Take it then sell it. There are those that would restore it if they could it from the owner for a reasonable price

Demolishing this house would be a crime. Beaver County has so few significant historical houses. If we allow this one to be demolished we will suffer an irreparable loss. Come on people!
