In public forums, many council members have suggested a best use for this property would be redevelopment as a park, requiring demolition of these two historic properties, endangering the historic character and vitality of Jenkintown's oldest neighborhood. Signers of this petition demand that any actions at this site prioritize rehabilitation of these historic properties over demolition, and that demolition only be undertaken when no other option is feasible and the buildings are proven to be a public safety hazard to the community.
