Typical Hull Council. They're also destroying a bat roost and flattening a lovely old cemetery in order to widen a road. When they hear the word "culture", they reach for their revolvers...

My daughters favourite place to hang out, she is devastated it's closing. It's always busy at weekends and holidays keep it open then!

I've visited many times and think it will be a huge loss to the city, especially when the council persistently WASTES money on useless projects, latest example being a waste of 8 and half grand doing up Mandelson's office when he's far richer then any of us folk in the city

Hull shutting the grammar school of Andrew Marvell and William Wilberforce is like Stratford closing Anne Hathaway's Cottage but for pre-booked school gorups. Time for a major rethink if the 'Hands on History' angle isn't working.

Much is made of the other Museums and Ferens is seemingly never out of the news. That this smaller attraction doesn't get any coverage is a crying shame. I have spent a number of enjoyable afternoons in the Hands On History Museum and I'm guessing I'm not the only one. Why not get one of the MPs to raise the issue in parliament and also ask the City of Culture panel whether this is going to be a coming trend - where smaller less Wow! attractions will be passed over in favour of dancing elephants and fireworks. The city is what is here now, not what is parachuted in.

My children really enjoy this museum, we have been a couple of times in the last year. We are a home educating family so we would really miss a great museum like this one. Hull should be very proud of it and advertise it more with signs, etc. We only found out about it by word of mouth. I agree we shouldn't be closing museums when we are supposed to be promoting the culture of the city.

My daughter is home educated and this museum is a valuable and much loved resource for her and her friends. It is the favourite Hull museum of many home educated and school children.
