Museums need to stay open to keep educating people about history.

Should remain open for all, not just pre-booked groups

Hull does not deserve to hold the title City of Culture if they are closing the cultural experiences in the city

Short termism. If you close Hull's visitor attractions you will lose visitors and income to the city. How is that saving money??

For a city of culture, what a disgraceful, and ultimately short-sighted, decision. Does the council have any grasp on how much museums contribute to the local economy in terms of jobs, population well being and tourism?

It is so sad to see councils continually cut funding for museum provision, especially at a time when Hull is celebrating it's cultural offer.

As a former member of staff at this museum, I know how much children and adults alike enjoyed the building and exhibits at 'Hands on History'. It's a beautiful building, famous for being the place that William Wilberforce studied. It also houses great collections such as the British Empire Exhibition replicas of artefacts from Tutenkhamen's tomb. Would this decision have been made if Hull was still waiting to hear whether it had been successful in its 2017 City of Culture bid? Very sad.

This doesn't augur well for what the city will be able to offer in 2017! I thought we would be gaining greater access rather than losing it with regard to such attractions.

Total disgrace. All the fantastic work and achievement blown out of the water by stupid politicians who wouldn`t know culture if it smacked them in the face. All the old stereotypes reinforced and the good publicity sidelined - (again!). Time for some new blood, fresh thinking and people who are bright enough to think things through and see the implications of their decisions. How can we be taken seriously with this type of crass decision and all the inevitable bad publicity? Give us an online suggestion box where we can suggest alternative ways of saving the money. I am sure we can ALL see areas where money is totally wasted. We need to INVEST at this stage to reap future rewards not crawl back into the dark ages. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
