I work for a company that organise school trips, so it would be a shame to see such a wonderful piece of history close, just when Hull is becoming the City of Culture in 2017

Closing beloved local museums in the run-up to City of Culture? Not cool, Hull City Council

Only a closed mind would close a museum.

Look at cities like Bristol, they are expanding their museums, not closing them. Find the money and make cuts elsewhere.

This seems to be an a-cultural proposal.

Valuable assets should not be closed down simply to save money, involve the community of Hull to help define its future, it's a fantastic space and resource and would be sad to see that locked away for only a privileged few...

Museums are vital for every community: they are economic and cultural engines for the future.

Short-sighted targeting of arts and culture. The trickle-down effect of museum closures on cities like Hull will be huge.

We need to keep our museums open so our children will know about our history

This is embarrassing in view of the City of Culture bid, and should be reconsidered.

Forget 2017, the future for Hull must be consolidation upon what is good and proper. Hands-on museum is proper good

City of culture 2017 - is Hull CC trying to drag us backwards yet again

Closing valuable cultural sites seems ludicrous in the run up to a capital of culture year!

I've enjoyed many hours visiting this museum with my grand daughter. It would be such a shame if more generations will miss out on the same experiences that we enjoyed on our visits.

As someone who loves history, culture and the arts; currently working in the sector in Newcastle and brought up in East Yorkshire, it would be a crying shame to waste the incredible opportunity Hull has as City of Culture by closing museums

Severely restricting access to this most diverse of museums is ludicrous. Especially in a city of culture...
